Wild about Flowers, Landscape and Macro Photography in Antelope Valley, April 17-19, 2009

Antelope Valley is noted for its vast poppy fields and spectacular floral displays providing ample opportunity for outstanding landscape and macro photography. Learn to take creative and beautiful close-up and landscape images, further develop your artistic vision, and enhance your photographic skills in the warm and supportive learning environment of this workshop for beginning to advanced amateur photographers. The weekend will emphasize composition and learning to see and the technical know-how to achieve your vision. Classroom instruction, demonstrations, and individual coaching in the field will help take your photography to the next level. Evenings will be spent discussing and providing feedback on participants’ fieldwork as well as prior work. This is not a course in botanical identification. Digital Photography Basics, Sunday May 17, 2009, 3-7 pm

Demystify all the technical terms and functions of your digital camera. Learn how to get good exposures, read your histogram, understand different f-stops, shutter speeds, ISO settings, depth of field, white balance, plus so much more. Beginning photographers will learn to create better images. Material presented in an easy-to-understand manner with guided practice sessions. Art of Wildflower Macrophotography, June 26-28, 2009

This field workshop is on the art of photographing wildflowers of the Mono Basin and upper reaches of the Sierra high country. Through classroom instruction, demonstrations, and individual coaching in the field, you will learn to take creative and beautiful close-up images, further develop your artistic vision, and enhance your photographic skills in a warm and supportive learning environment. Macrophotography takes us into a smaller world of more intimate detail. It entails moving in closer and magnifying the subject beyond our normal perception of it. This workshop emphasizes the artistry of macrophotography and the technical means to render such images. This is not a course in botanical identification. Mono Lake area, Eastern Sierra, California. Limited to 8 participants.

Go beyond the technical aspects of camera and lens. Learn to create powerful images through composition. Generate maximum impact by developing a way of seeing and attending to the elements in the scene. See light and use it more effectively.
